Roadworks totalling over half a million pounds are set to begin in the Armagh and Portadown area.
Resurfacing will take place on the B114 Shanecracken and Tannyoky Roads Poyntzpass and at B131Teagy Road in Portadown.
Whilst the Department’s resource budget for activities such as routine maintenance is severely reduced, funding for this scheme is from the capital budget for major projects and new road schemes which is less affected by the current pressures.
Danny Kennedy said: “This latest investment will see a total of almost 8Km of road improvements.
“The improvements will greatly enhance the surfaces and overall strength of the roads. Drivers will quickly realise the benefits of the work.”
Preparatory works are now underway at Shanecracken and Tannyoky Roads. Final resurfacing is scheduled between Monday 5 and Sunday 25 January.
Resurfacing at the Teagy Road is expected to take place between Wednesday 7 and Wednesday 28 January.
To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors, road closures and traffic diversions will be necessary.
Diversions and traffic management arrangement will be well sign posted. Access to the lengths of closed roads will be available to local residents, churches, amenities and to local businesses.
Drivers should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.
As with all scheme of this type, severe weather may impact on the scheduled arrangements.
