THE hunt for the County Armagh winner of an unclaimed National Lottery windfall has ended after the lucky punter came forward.
The winner – who correctly matched five main numbers and a lucky star number in the New Year’s Day EuroMillions draw – has scooped a huge £606,509.
As reported previously by Armaghi, Lottery operators Camelot had been searching for the owner of the lucky ticket, which was sold in County Armagh.
And, contrary to some media reports out today (Tuesday) – which indicated the prize had yet to be claimed – we can now report that the search has ended.
But, unless the winner opts for full publicity and signs an agreement to that effect, he, she or they will remain anonymous!
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win – what a great way to start 2013.
“It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-changing amount of money. We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play.
