Armagh City is set to host its tenth annual Georgian Day, one of the most popular days in the city’s event calendar, on Saturday 30th November, which promises to be a feast for the eyes and ears with a host of exciting and unique activities and entertainment for all the family to enjoy.
Georgian Day, which is free to attend, will see the city transformed with market stalls offering beautiful indigenous crafts and food as well as the scent of warm mince pies and mulled wine combined with the sound of local musicians to ensure a truly unique atmosphere to get the festive season started.

Highlights of the day, which runs from 10am until 8pm, include a traditional Georgian Christmas Market with over 70 stalls lining the narrow streets; carol singing and festive music performed by local musicians; Georgian gentry promenading the streets in authentic costumes; horsedrawn carriage rides along the Mall; children’s entertainment; mince pies, mulled wine and much more.
Two Georgian day Cathedral concerts will also take place on the day hosted by St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral featuring the music of the Hunter Moore Flute Orchestra from 2-3pm and Risin’ Stour, a folk group from County Down, from 3-4pm.
Speaking ahead of the popular family day, Lord Mayor, Robert Turner, said:“Georgian Day is a fantastic way to start the countdown to Christmas, as well as learning a little more about one of Ireland’s oldest cities. This annual event has grown in popularity and size each year and we pride ourselves in welcoming new and returning visitors at each Georgian Day.
“This year promises to give visitors a true insight into what a Georgian Christmas would have been like in Armagh, and kicks off the start of many amazing local Christmas events and festivities in the setting of Armagh’s beautiful Georgian city centre.”
The city will also host three special light shows in the Market Square at 5.30, 6.30 and 7.30pm to officially mark the Christmas season
