Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has formally signed up to the motor neurone disease charter.
Lord Mayor Mealla Campbell signed the document after welcoming the chairman and branch secretary of the Motor Neurone Disease Association Northern Ireland to Craigavon Civic Centre.
The official duty was performed as the council held its monthly meeting.
The signing came after an agreement to support a motion tabled in the summer.
It had been brought by Sinn Fein Councillor Catherine Nelson, seconded by Alliance Councillor Peter Lavery.
The motion was to ensure that “this council recognises that motor neurone disease has a devastating impact on many families across our borough and beyond”.
The motion added: “In adopting the charter this council recognises the importance of the right care, in the right place at the right time, and values, respects and will support local people with MND.”
