Armagh City’s under 12 girls rising football stars are preparing this summer as both teams get ready to compete in the prestigious Foyle Cup 2026 in Derry/Londonderry for the first time in the Club’s history!

In a landmark moment for the club, these will be the first ever Armagh City girls’ teams to enter the internationally recognised youth tournament, which attracts hundreds of teams from across Ireland, the UK, and beyond each year.

The Foyle Cup is widely regarded as one of the leading youth football competitions, providing young players with the opportunity to showcase their talent on a major stage while experiencing a festival of sport and community.

For the players, coaches, and families involved, the announcement marks both a proud achievement and an exciting challenge ahead.

Fundraising with Purpose

To help make the journey possible, the girls are taking on an ambitious and energetic fundraising event.

On Saturday April 25, 2026, the teams will gather at The Mall in Armagh to attempt a 100km Football Dribble Challenge — a test of skill, endurance, and teamwork.

The event is not only about raising funds for travel and tournament costs.

It also aims to support an important cause close to the community’s heart — Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity dedicated to supporting children and young people facing cancer, along with their families.

The day promises to be a fantastic community occasion, with plenty of opportunities for locals to come along, cheer on the girls, and contribute to both the team’s journey and a vital charitable cause.

Community Support Needed

With preparations well underway, the club is calling on the wider Armagh community to get behind the teams.

Supporters can contribute via the team’s JustGiving page, helping ensure the girls can take part in what promises to be an unforgettable experience, while also making a meaningful difference to young lives affected by cancer.

“This is about more than football,” said the girls Headcoach Christopher McCombe.

“It’s about creating opportunities for these girls, building confidence, and showing them what they can achieve — all while giving back to a truly important cause.”

As July approaches, excitement continues to build. For Armagh City Girls U12, the road to the Foyle Cup is already proving to be a journey of determination, community spirit, and inspiration.
