An Armagh farmer has been convicted at court of two charges of failing to isolate an animal with Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD).
Gerry McArdle (57) of Rathcumber Road, Derrynoose, appeared before Armagh Court on March 4.
There, he pleaded guilty and was fined £300, plus the £15 offender levy.
BVD is a highly contagious viral infection of cattle which causes a range of clinical problems. Most infected animals do not survive to a productive age.
The case arose, following Mr McArdle’s failure on two separate occasions, to isolate an animal that had tested positive for BVD. The offences were detected during inspections conducted on November 11, 2022 and December 5, 2022.
