Caravan gutted in early morning blaze at Armagh housing estate

A caravan has been gutted during an early morning blaze in Armagh.

It happened in the Callanbridge area shortly before 4am this morning.

Residents in it and neighbouring estates had been awakened by the sound of four loud explosions.

One eyewitness from Ard Ri said he ran over to Callanbridge after witnessing “a lot of smoke” coming from that estate.

There he watched as firefighters battled a blaze at the caravan which was well alight.

A car next to the mobile home was also damaged.

It is understood that CCTV from a nearby premises has been requested by Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service as they work to determine the cause of the blaze.

The fire was brought under control and firefighters left the area at around 4.30am.
