An Armagh man has been remanded into custody accused of drugging and raping a woman.
Ryan Reid is accused of the offence on Boxing Day.
Appearing at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court by videolink from police custody on Saturday, the 32-year-old spoke only to confirm that he understood the charges against him.
Reid, from Railway Street in Armagh, faces charges of rape, sexual assault, administering a substance with intent to commit sexual assault and false imprisonment of a woman.
He faces further accusations of attempting to possess class A cocaine, possessing class B cannabis and a handful of driving offences including driving while unfit, drink driving, driving without a licence or insurance and permitting driving with neither a licence nor insurance.
A police officer told the court he believed he could connect Reid to each of the charges.
Defence counsel Con O’Neill confirmed he was not making an application for bail.
He suggested that Reid could be remanded for a short period while the defence team prepare such an application and accordingly, District Judge Anne Marshall remanded Reid into custody to appear again on New Year’s Eve.
