A man accused of a Hallowe’en burglary in which he allegedly assaulted a man and stole a car is to face the Crown Court in October.

Stephen James Fox, of Inverary Avenue in Belfast, and formerly of Corrigan Court, Armagh,  appeared before Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry Courthouse, for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.

The 46-year-old appeared before the Court via video-link from a solicitor’s office, charged with burglary of a dwelling, grievous bodily harm, robbery, theft of a vehicle and taking a motor vehicle without authority.

The offences are alleged to have occurred at a flat in Corrigans Court, Armagh, on October 31 of last year.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Anne Marshall, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, placed Fox on his own bail of £500, to appear at Newry Crown Court on October 27 for arraignment.

Conditions for bail included that he could not contact the injured party in the case, nor could he enter County Armagh.
