An Armagh man who is accused of grabbing and swallowing a suspected drug when it was seized by police has appeared at a court in the city.
Paul Joseph Druse, 43, of Dukes Road, stood charged of obstructing police at the Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
It was heard that on April 8, last year, at around 2.55am in Armagh city centre, police stopped the defendant as there was a strong smell of cannabis.
Druse was searched and a small amount of what was suspected to be the drug was seized.
The defendant was then alleged to have grabbed the substance and swallowed it.
The case has been adjourned to June 19 as the defence await instructions.
