A pre-sentence report has been ordered in the case of an Armagh man who called a police officer a “dirty black b******” during an incident in the city on St Patrick’s Day.
Twenty-one-year-old Liam Rice, of St Patrick’s Park, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour at the city’s Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on March 17 at around 5.45pm, when police were called by ambulance staff to a female kicking out at them on Thomas Street, Armagh.
As officers attempted to defuse the situation, the defendant intervened and continued even after being asked to stay out of it.
Rice then called them “disgraceful b*******”, after being told his actions were being recorded and called one officer a “dirty black b******”.
Court heard the female involved in the incident received 200 hours of community service.
It was also revealed the defendant was in breach of a live suspended sentence imposed in December of last year.
District Judge Paul Copeland said he wished to order a pre-sentence report.
Rice will be sentenced at a later date.
