An Armagh man has become the first person in Northern Ireland to be prosecuted in an alleged case of paying for sexual services.
James Maloney, 23, from Drumarg Villas, Armagh is accused of attempting to obtain the sexual services from a female in exchange for payment.
The alleged incident took place in Dungannon in August 2016.
His defence lawyer told Dungannon Magistrates’ Court he denies the charge.
It is the first case of its kind in the UK since the law was introduced in 2015.
Maloney’s case is due to be heard at the end of January, following a pre-trial review taking place in December.
