An Armagh man who said police were “worse than rapists” when confronted by officers has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Court heard that the 29-year-old was approached by police after being observed intoxicated and shouting in the street about his ex-partner.
Jason Toal, of Culdee Drive, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour at the city’s Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry, on Tuesday via videolink from Maghaberry.
Prosecution outlined that on October 11, police were called to an address at Mullacreevie Park in Armagh.
Whilst there, officers encountered this defendant, who was intoxicated and was shouting in the street about his ex-partner.
Upon being spoken to by police, he then stated they were “worse than rapists”.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes sentenced him to five months in prison suspended for a period of two years.
