A local SPAR retailer has represented Northern Ireland at the highest level of retailing excellence at the 2025 Retail Industry Awards.
Stephen and Donna Mullan, who have operated Mullan’s SPAR Monaghan Road in Armagh for the past 20 years, won Independent Chilled Retailer of the Year at the awards which are acknowledged as one of the most prestigious retail award schemes in the UK.
Judges heaped praise on the award winning store, stating; “the substantial investment in new equipment clearly shows a commitment to excellence” adding “this store stands out as a clear winner”.
The store was recognised for their chilled offering that was “absolutely essential… catering to busy professionals and families” in the area, meeting the high demand for convenient meal solutions, underpinning the store’s value proposition and driving shopper loyalty. A third of the store’s floorspace is dedicated to its fresh and chilled produce, with over 75% of products sourced from local farmers and growers.
