An Armagh teen has received medical treatment after being allegedly assaulted by a group of girls on the Cathedral Road.
According to the mother of the injured girl, she was “grabbed by her hair” and had her “head slammed against a wall” in the attack.
It happened in the vicinity of Cathedral Road recreation centre at around 5pm on August 11.
It is understood the young woman attended hospital for the injuries she received.
Her mother claims that between six and seven girls aged roughly 16-17 years old who “appeared under the influence of alcohol” were responsible for instigating the assault.
Police in Armagh are now appealing for information and witnesses following the report.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said officers on patrol were flagged down by members of the public to report an ongoing fight involving youths in a nearby park.
Adding: “Officers attended the area and spoke to a number of youths present – an altercation was not ongoing at that time.
“Medical attention was advised for a teenage girl who sustained injuries as a result of the altercation, which are not believed to be serious at this time.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and the Youth Diversion Officer has been informed.”
