An armed man made off with cash after holding a filling station employee at gunpoint in Middletown on Saturday.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the armed robbery around 1pm.
Detective Inspector Griffin said: “We received a report at around 1pm of an ongoing armed robbery at a filling station bureau de change in the Monaghan Road area.
“Officers attended the scene and spoke to the employee, who was unharmed, though obviously shaken by the ordeal.
“It was reported that a man with a hood up and his face covered had entered the premises shortly beforehand, armed with what we believe to have been a small handgun. He demanded money from the employee and subsequently took a quantity of cash before making off in a blue Volkswagen Passat.
