It’s said a dog is a man’s best friend and for Willie Nugent no truer words could be spoken!
Maisie has been with the champion Armagh fundraiser through thick and thin.
And now she is celebrating a big birthday, as Maisie has just turned 16! (We were going to work that out in dog years but the maths got the better of us!)
While many other pampered pooches might be thinking of putting their paws up and taking it easy, not so Maisie.
For she has been busy helping with the latest charity book, charting her exciting adventures, and due out in early November – well in time for Christmas.
It is now something of a festive tradition and this will be the eighth book in the series, the run to date having raised a super £21,000 for specially chosen charities.
Not one to rest on her laurels, Maisie is eagerly – with Willie’s help of course! – working away to ensure this year’s production schedules are met.
Of course, she will not divulge, just yet, the title of her 2026 publication.
“The first to know will be the boys and girls of Armagh, my number one supporters,” said Maisie. (Yes, she spoke, we were shocked too! Go figure!!).

Maisie – just days old – in the palm of Willie’s hand.
Maisie would like to thank O’Reilly & Fee veterinary surgery in Armagh for keeping her healthy and well – and looking so young! – over the last 16 years, and to Pet World Armagh for keeping her nice and clean and well-groomed too.
When asked how she felt about such a big birthday, she replied: “It’s only a number!”
And, as she walked away wagging her tail, she barked: “There’s life in the old dog yet!”
