Residents of a border village are planning a community walk this week to highlight ongoing concerns over speeding traffic.
The people of Middletown are calling for urgent action to be taken due to the dangers of drivers speeding through the centre of the village.
And the Middletown Community Forum is planning a walk to highlight the need for traffic calming measures to be introduced before lives are lost.
They are calling on local people to come out and lend their support.
The walk is due to take place this Wednesday, June 20.
According to the organisers: “The local community have recently expressed concern about the speed at which traffic travels through the village.
“We are calling on the Department of Infrastructure to work with us to introduce traffic calming measures in the village before a life is lost on our main street.
“There have been a few near misses in the recent past and our main concern is the safety of our community and our families.
“One life lost is one too many!”
The event is due to get underway at 6pm, meeting at Hughes’ car park, and all locals are asked to come along and show their support.
