A brass sculpture from Armagh’s award-winning Angels and Gargoyles trail has been stolen.
Police are appealing for information in relation to the report of the theft of an 8-inch copper/brass ‘gargoyle’ from a building in the Market Street area of Armagh.
It is believed that it was stolen sometime between Sunday, December 31 and Thursday, January 11, last month.
Constable Purdy would appeal to anyone who has information about this theft or anyone who is offered it for sale to contact Police at Armagh on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 330 09/02/18.
Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
This is a heritage piece and is part of a ‘heritage trail’ around Armagh.
This series of Armagh sculptures won the Civic Art Award in 2012.
The Angels and Gargoyles trail is Armagh’s smallest public art installation but it also spans the widest area.
The trail features twenty-two miniature bronze sculptures hidden in all kinds of curious places amongst the city’s historic buildings, architecture and streets.
