Businesses in Armagh are being urged to be vigilant over the St Patrick’s weekend after a series of fake £50 notes surfaced in the city this week.
Police in the area are warning businesses of the counterfeit currency ahead of one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Officers received reports of a number of fake £50 notes being passed in shops in Armagh between Thursday and Friday afternoon.
Business owners are being asked to brief all staff members as thousands of visitors come into the city over the next few days.
The Home of St Patrick’s Festival parade kicks off from the Palace at 1.30pm this afternoon.
A second community-led parade takes place on St Patrick’s Day (Sunday) and begins at 2.30pm from the Christian Brothers’ Primary School on the Keady Road.
