The members of Lean In Armagh/Tyrone held their very first charity event on Tuesday, October 1, a sponsored walk around the Mall in Armagh, raising £2,300 of vital funds in support of Women’s Aid Armagh and Down.
The event brought together members from Lean In Armagh/ Tyrone and supporters from across the community, with all proceeds going directly towards services for women, children, and young people impacted by domestic and sexual abuse
Speaking after the event, Philippa McShane and Fiona McGilly, Co-Chairs, Lean In Armagh/Tyrone said: “Women supporting women is at the heart of everything we do, and it was inspiring to see our community come together — walking, talking, and raising funds for such an important cause, We’d like to thank all our members and the local community for supporting this worthy cause.”
Helen Cranney, Acting CEO of Women’s Aid Armagh Down, added: “We provide our services right into the heart of our local community, supporting women, children and young people who are living with the impact of domestic and sexual abuse.
“So every time that same community supports us by raising funds, raising awareness and standing alongside us to say we will not stay silent, they help place more light on the issue and bring it out into the everyday conversations we need to have in our homes, businesses, sports clubs and communities.
“We are extremely grateful for this support that will go to ensure we can continue to provide services to the women, children and young people who need our help.”
