A new warehouse could be built at Drumcairn Road on the outskirts of Armagh to facilitate the ongoing success of a local company.
Amended drawings for the scheme have been submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
The application has been submitted by Mr Cormac McCormick, of Castle Stage Hire Ltd in Blackwatertown.
The intention is for a new warehouse and offices, with associated facilities, including designated parking for cars and commercial vehicles.
The proposed location at Drumcairn Road, just off the main Moy Road, Armagh, is described as a “vacant industrial/commercial site”.
Next year Castle Stage Hire – which also provides lighting and PA packages – will be marking 30 years in business.
They are recognised as being one of the top indoor and outdoor stage hire companies, with customers from all over Northern Ireland and the Republic.
The new development – in excess of 1,000 sq metres – is intended for carrying out repair work relating to the stages and products supplied by the company.
Papers indicate that if approved, the development would see 12 people working from the new site.
According to a chartered building surveyor, there would be no heavy equipment or machinery used on site. The repairs would be of a “light nature” with only hand tools or hand held drills or saws used.
Hours of operation would be 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, although the site would not always be occupied between those times.
Some floodlighting would be required.
Proposals were first brought forward in January of last year.
Amended drawings have now been submitted and will be publicly advertised next week, with a decision now expected in the coming months.
