Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is to receive more than £15,000 to put towards this year’s food and cider weekend.
The money, totalling £15,592.50 will be provided by the Northern Ireland Regional Food Programme (NIRFP) and the offer was discussed during Council’s monthly meeting on Monday, June 28.
Members were told an application for funding for the 2021 food and cider weekend was submitted to NIRFP in early 2021.
The food and drink weekend will run from September 9-12 and the additional funding will help support proposed activities at the festival.
The food and cider weekend takes place in the heart of the orchard county and is brimming with fine foods, foraged lunches, cider tasting and tours and talks.
Council encourages all attendees to drink lots of water, eat lots of food and embrace the craft cider way: drink local, drink less and drink better.
A proposal to accept the offer of £15,592.50 from NIRFP towards the food and cider weekend was put forward by Councillor Declan McAlinden and seconded by Councillor Kyle Savage.
