A County Armagh man accused of raping his sister-in-law is to appear before the Crown Court next month.
The 21-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Armagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with the offence, which is alleged to have taken place on December 22, 2018.
Appearing via videolink from his solicitor’s office, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
During the brief hearing, a prosecution solicitor confirmed that she believed there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence solicitor Patrick Higgins made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Bernie Kelly warned the defendant that he was to have no contact with the complainant or her immediate family.
He must also, barring a medical emergency, inform the court if he intends to stay away from his registered address on any night pending trial.
The accused was released on his own bail of £500 to return before Newry Crown Court on October 19.
