A Hamiltonsbawn dad has spoken of his disgust at what he described as a long-running issue of dog fouling outside the local primary school.
And this week he reached the end of his tether when he was forced to clean the faecal matter from his child’s shoe before they entered the school grounds.
The irate parent – who wished to remain anonymous – said he has had enough of irresponsible dog owners not picking up after their pets, so much so, he wanted to publicly highlight the problem.
“On a regular occurrence the public footpath outside of Hamiltonsbawn Primary School is covered with dog poo,” he told Armagh I.
“On Wednesday, there was a mound right outside the main school gate which several children, including my own child, stepped in.
“I had to clean my child’s shoes before sending them into school. Many likely didn’t get the chance to clean their shoes.”
He added: “It’s disgusting that residents in Hamiltonsbawn allow their dogs to foul and not pick it up after them – and even more disgusting that they allow it right outside a school.”
The parent hopes that by highlighting the issue, those responsible will think twice about allowing this sort of thing to happen again – for the safety of the public, and in particular, the children.
