Calling all ravers! Armagh is set to see the dawn of a new ERA with a nostalgic throwback to those halcyon club scene days.
Leg warmers should be at the ready, glow sticks unboxed and the dust blown off those neon plastic sunglasses because the 90s and 00s club scene is set to return with a bang.
On August 9, the site of the Shambles Market in the city centre is to become a dancefloor for the first time in its history, announcing the ERA Festival.
The event designed to “reignite the energy of those memorable nights out” will showcase five live DJs and performers and – to ensure the nostalgic element really hits home – it’s aimed at over 30s.
Taking to the stage will be headline act Chris Agnelli from Agnelli and Nelson, Italian house music group Living Joy, Belfast-based production master and DJ Yomanda, former residence DJs at Lush! nightclub Midknight Thieves and Northern Ireland’s “voice of dance and radio” Neal McClelland.
Together they have curated a playlist featuring 30 years of dance classics with everything from the “iconic beats of the 80s to the infectious anthems of the 90s and 00s”.
The atmosphere promises to be “electric” with the enhancement of full stage FX and production, merchandise and food vendors and a fully licenced bar!
Lord Mayor, councillor Sarah Duffy commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to see the Shambles Yard being put to such great use for this exciting festival. Not only is it fantastic to see a the Shambles Yard brought to life, but events like this also give a real boost to our local economy — supporting small businesses, traders, and hospitality.
“I want to wish the team every success and I look forward to seeing the city buzzing with energy, music, and a throwback to 90s nostalgia.”
Early bird tickets go on sale ahead of general release this Friday (March 28) with a limited number of tickets available at a cost of £20 + booking fee on a first come, first served basis.
