A £90 penalty notice handed out to a disabled Armagh man for parking outside his home will not be overturned, a spokesperson for the Department of Infrastructure confirmed.
Stephen Blayney was handed the fine for parking in the same spot he has done so every day for the last 25 years.
However, the spokesperson for the Department of Infrastructure, confirmed to Armagh I that the tickets issued will not be overturned.
“There are existing no waiting at any time restrictions and corner restrictions along Drumadd Terrace, Armagh,” said the spokesperson.
“These restrictions are in place to aide visibility and safety and to prevent obstruction of steps facilitating pedestrian access to the houses here.
“TransportNI Parking Enforcement Unit received a complaint regarding obstruction of the steps here and as a result visited the location to carry out enforcement as appropriate. Penalty Charge Notices were issued to vehicles parked in contravention of the waiting restrictions.
“TransportNI would remind the public of the need to park in a considerate and safe manner taking into consideration the needs of all road users and any waiting restrictions.”
