A major road improvement scheme in Armagh city centre – costing in the region of £700,000 – is due to get underway on Monday.
It will see resurfacing work carried out at Mall West, Lonsdale Road and Little Barrack Street.
The scheme is being carried out by the Department for Infrastructure in partnership with the Department for Communities and Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council.
It will involve the strengthening and resurfacing of 600 metres of road and footways along with ancillary works.
The work is due to be completed by mid-September.
To facilitate the scheme, temporary footway, road and lane closures will be in place.
Traffic will be prohibited from using Mall West in the Gaol Square direction from Monday, July 24 through until Monday, September 4.
It will be diverted along College Hill, Drumadd Road, Victoria Street and Gaol Square.
The Department and works contractor say they will be aiming to keep disruption to a minimum, but delays should be expected and drivers and pedestrians are asked to be patient and to allow additional time when planning journeys in the area whilst the improvements are being carried out.
As with all work of this nature, they say adverse weather can impact on the completion date.
The Department will advise the public should any delays arise which may change the planned works schedule.
