Domiciliary care workers in the Southern Trust area are to be issued with Personal Protective Equipment.
Confirmation came on Friday and the news has been welcomed by Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady.
He said: “I have been in touch with the Chief Executive of the Southern Trust who has confirmed that domiciliary care workers in the Trust area will be issued with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
“This is something we have been calling for in order to protect frontline health care workers.
“This equipment will help domiciliary care workers, who provide an essential service to older people and some of the most vulnerable in our society.
“All our health and social care workers should have access to adequate PPE as they save lives and keep people safe.”
