A man who caused an accident that left two cars “beyond repair” after a collision in Armagh has been handed a 12-month driving ban.
Court heard that police had been unable to make contact with the 43-year-old following the incident which happened in 2015.
Du Nguyen, of Queens Walk, Lurgan pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Armagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Court heard that on June 18, 2015, at around 8.30pm, police responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the Portadown Road, Armagh.
The driver of a Mercedes had slowed down on the road and indicated to turn right.
This car was struck by an Audi driven by the defendant after he overtook numerous other vehicles.
Nguyen then got into the back passenger seat where he was dealt with by paramedics.
Court heard that both cars were damaged beyond repair.
It was ascertained that following the incident police had been unable to make contact with the defendant, who had a relevant record.
Nguyen, who represented himself, stated that he had no comment to make.
The defendant was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a fine of £245, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
