An Easter Fair is being held in Armagh to support the work of a local charity with those less fortunate overseas.
The Malawi Projects was formed in 2016 by a group of trade unionists from the Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance, quickly joined by friends and colleagues from other unions and walks of life.
The volunteers from NIPSA Branch 733 and friends fundraising efforts will continue with the Easter Fair this Thursday, April 19.
It will take place from 10am to 1pm at Clover Centre, St Luke’s Hospital Site, Armagh.
There will be stalls selling over 10,000 items from Vintage , Clothes, Books and DVDs to Toys, Furniture and muchm much more.
There will also be refreshments and treats to tantalise the tastebuds, including teas, coffee, homemade scones and fresh cream and jam and delicious homemade cakes.
The group has work to make a different in Malawi and volunteers regularly visit to update on the work.
Past projects include the installation of solar panels, a fresh water supply and garden at an orphanage housing young women and girls.
One of the group, Fanchea Coleman, said the small charity works on the basis of “giving a hand up, not a hand out”.
And she encouraged all to come along and snap up a bargain at the Easter Fair this week and raise money for this vital work.
“We need all the help we can get to transform the lives of thousands of people,” added Fanchea.
