Eight Armagh cyclists are preparing to get on their bikes for a 200k trek to Donegal in aid of Daisy Lodge.
The eight have chosen the residential centre, just outside Newcastle, as the beneficiary and want to raise as much money as possible.
Daisy Lodge gives cancer patients and their families the opportunity of a therapeutic break and time away from their treatments. They also offer counselling and after care for all patients and their families dealing with the effects of cancer.
The Armagh friends – Pete Gildea, Gerard Enright, Tom McShane Paddy McShane, Paddy Toner, Eugene Quinn, Paddy Hughes and Conor Scully – intend to embark on their cross-county trip next Saturday, August 14.
They will be setting off at 6.30am and hope to arrive in Donegal at around 4pm in the afternoon.
They will be passing through plenty of towns and villages along the way and hope for some great support.
Clocking up the miles and the pounds will see them travel through Seskinore, near Omagh, and on to Fintona, Dromore, Ederney, Kesh, Belleek, Ballyshannon, Bundoran, Mullaghmore. From there they will go back to Bundoran and Ballyshannon, before venturing on to Rossnowlagh and Ballintra ahead of their arrival in Donegal town.
It’s a remarkable journey and all eight have been training hard.

Paddy Toner said: “We have an enthusiastic group of social cyclists training hard over this last six months for a fundraiser to participate in this very worthy cause.
