An established Portadown dental clinic is set to embark on an exciting new chapter as it relocates to a larger premises, allowing the team to expand the range of services provided and create new employment opportunities in the area.
Originally established in 1967, William Street Dental has proudly served the local community for almost six decades. This move represents the next stage of development for William Street Dental and Implant Centre after the practice was taken over by Dr James McKee in 2018.
The practice is now led by Dr McKee alongside co-owner Dr Pádraic Conroy, who leads the practice’s implant team.
Since taking ownership, James has overseen a period of modernisation and expansion within the practice, with significant investment made in modern equipment and technology.

In recent years the team has introduced a range of new treatments and services including advanced restorative dentistry, orthodontics, hygiene services and a range of other dental treatments.
With continued developments across the practice, the relocation marks the next chapter in the growth of William Street Dental.
Dr McKee said:
“We have maintained a strong family ethos within the practice and are proud to remain an integral part of the local community.
“Many of our patients have been attending the practice for generations, and it is a privilege to continue caring for them and their families.”
Dr McKee has a particular interest in orthodontics and restorative dentistry and completed a postgraduate diploma in orthodontics in 2020. He is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry.
“In 2021, we also introduced dental implant surgery to the practice,” he added.
“This service has grown steadily over the past number of years, and today we are proud to operate as a fast-growing referral practice, welcoming patients both through direct referral from other dentists and through self-referral.”

The practice’s implant services are led by Dr Pádraic Conroy, who has expanded his clinical time and commitment to the practice since 2023 as the implant side of the practice continues to develop.
Dr Conroy holds the prestigious Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has also completed multiple advanced postgraduate courses in implantology and brings extensive experience in implant surgery and advanced restorative care.
Dr Conroy commented: “Since we introduced the dental implant referral service, we have been delighted with the response from our local colleagues, and have been pleased to treat many patients from other clinics on a referral basis.
“However, we are also happy to see patients who self refer, and are pleased to offer a full range of dental implant services, from single tooth to full mouth replacements, and also other less well known treatments, such as denture stabilisation”.
Dr McKee continued:
“One of the aspects we are most proud of is the strength and loyalty of our team.
“We have built a highly experienced and committed group of dental healthcare professionals, including dentists, dental nurses, dental hygienists, dental therapists and dentists with a special interest.”
“Our entire team are continually expanding their qualifications, including training in dental radiography, digital scanning and other advanced clinical skills such as sedation training.”
William Street Dental’s award-winning track record reflects the dedication of the team, who received several accolades in 2023 including Practice of the Year, Best Patient Care and Best Team.
With the move imminent, the relocation is planned for early May 2026. The practice will move from its current three-surgery premises to a new seven-surgery clinic.
The larger premises will allow the team to expand further, with additional clinicians and support staff expected to join the practice.

The new building will also host a broader range of healthcare services, beginning with a speech and language therapist operating from one of the clinical rooms.
The team hopes to create a collaborative healthcare setting within the building and are welcoming expressions of interest from other allied health professionals such as podiatrists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, counsellors and other practitioners involved in general health and wellbeing.
William Street Dental also confirmed that Mackey Opticians will occupy a separate unit within the premises.
“We believe this is a complementary partnership within the local healthcare market and will contribute to the development of a strong clinical hub on William Street,” said Dr McKee.
The practice also plans to welcome new restorative dentists and clinicians with special interests in areas such as endodontics, periodontics and other advanced dental disciplines.
“Our aim is to continue delivering high-quality modern dentistry while remaining true to the values that have guided the practice since 1967 – community, professionalism and patient-centred care.”
