A lawyer for a man charged in connection with the discovery of a cannabis factory at a house in Gilford says a delay in the case progress is unsatisfactory.
“This is a man whose liberty has been taken from him. The police are dragging their heals,” Craigavon Magistrates’ Court was told.
Josh O’Donovan (30), with an address listed as no fixed abode in Armagh, is charged with cultivating cannabis and dishonestly using electricity at High Street in Gilford on December 21 last year.
He is also charged with causing criminal damage to a police cell van on January 26 this year.
He appeared at court on Friday via video link from prison where he has been on remand.
A previous court heard there were around 50 cannabis plants.
A prosecutor said the full file was due with their department from police on March 10 but forensics are still awaited and a drug valuation report is also awaited.
A judge said police were “dependent” on the forensics reports being advanced, “over which they had no control”.
The case was adjourned to May 2.
Erlandis Miseikis (25), of High Street in Gilford, is also charged with cultivating cannabis and dishonestly using electricity and his case was also adjourned to May 2.
