The football season has officially kicked off and one rapidly growing Co Tyrone club are seeking a new cohort of young female players with flair!
Riverdale Football Club – based in Benburb – are keen to attract some new talent for their U12s, U14s and U16s teams.
If you are thinking of joining a girls’ football team, have a neice, daughter, granddaughter or friend who you think would be interested, then Riverdale want to hear more!
While the club are based in Benburb, they have players from many surrounding areas including Moy, Armagh, Dungannon and Blackwatertown.
To continue growing and developing in the sport, they have committed to giving female football the push it needs.
Said Riverdale Football Club: “It’s no secret that there is a massive drop off in girl’s participation in sport during their teenage years. And we want to try and reverse this trend in our local areas.
“To do this we need more girls to become involved and join our teams. We aim to create a safe, fun and welcoming sporting environment, where girls can play football, enjoy themselves and form friendships.
“We have 4 underage teams competing in the Mid Ulster Leagues and we train in Benburb and Dungannon depending on the age group.”
So far, the girls already on-board have commenced their training in Benburb (for U12s) and in Dungannon (for U14s and U16s).
Girls hoping to join the U12s should be born in 2015/16, for the U14s should be born in 2013/14 and for U16s in 2011/12.
Hopeful players do not need any experience or demonstrated ability. Their experienced coaches have all the expertise needed to bring players on and develop the skills needed to ensure it’s goals galore!
