Council have announced that Gosford Forest Park will once again open its gates to the public after Storm Éowyn’s devastating effects forced its closure.

Hundreds of trees had been uprooted in the council owned park near Markethill, by wind speeds which reached up to 102 mph in places, leaving some 283,000 homes without power across Northern Ireland.

As a result, council officials made the decision to restrict public access due to health and safety concerns.

A representative for Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough council has now confirmed that pubic access will resumed from 12 noon on Wednesday February 12.

Users should note that there will be limited access to paths and trails as work continues to clear the extensive damage caused by Storm Éowyn.

The caravan park at Gosford will also reopen on Wednesday, however the mountain bike trails will remain closed.

Visitors are urged to adhere to the safety signage in place and we appreciate your patience at this time.
