A leading Co Armagh firm has said its staff are “heartbroken” at the sudden passing of a long-time friend and colleague.
Michael ‘Mickey’ Mallon passed away suddenly at his Cathedral Road home in Armagh city on Saturday.
He was the loving husband of Geraldine, dear father of Mark, Andrew and brother of Peter.
His passing will be felt hardest among his family, as well as his many, many friends, a lot of whom he worked alongside over the years. He was a man described as “loyal”.
Cormac Leonard Commercials lead the tributes to a member of the business who was there from its early days.
“The staff at Cormac Leonard Commercials are totally heartbroken on hearing the tragic news that our colleague and friend Mickey Mallon has passed away,” they wrote on social media.
“As a young 18 year old man Mickey started out on his working life here alongside Cormac and for almost 45 years has been a such integral part of the place, a work horse that we all looked up to in so many ways. He was loyal, generous and a friend to every one of us.
“We will miss his jokes, infectious laugh and that sparkle in his eyes as he got behind the wheel. The 730 will be running on empty without you.
“To Geraldine, Mark and Andrew we offer our sincere condolences. Rest easy Mickey.”
Hundreds of tributes have been paid online; many of whom recalled how he loved to have a laugh – his infectious personality.
One man described Mickey as “a true humble friend and gentleman; you will be sorely missed. Men like you are few and far between.”
Another said he was “an absolute gentleman who always had time for a chat”.
Michael will be reposing at his home 137 ‘Lurgyvallen’ Cathedral Road, BT61 8BE. Funeral on Thursday to St Patrick’s Cathedral for 11am Mass, with burial afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery.
Very deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife, sons, brother, sister in law Rosemary, nieces Shauna, Catherine, Caoimhe, aunt Lilly Rice, family circle and friends.
