Heavy winds batter Co Armagh as Storm Callum arrives

Storm Callum is already causing problems across Co Armagh this morning (Friday).

A number of roads have been blocked already; most notably the Summerisland Road, just before Moy.

The Loughgall Road out of Portadown is passable coming towards the town.

The Keady – Tassagh Road is also blocked.

There are hundreds of homes without power in Armagh, Lurgan and Banbridge areas this morning.

The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for wind throughout the day, and said people should be aware of the dangers of fast flowing flood water, while winds of up to 90mph are expected.

They added: “Homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.”

At the airports, Flybe has cancelled all flights departing from Belfast City this morning due to high winds forecast.

A Flybe spokesperson said: “The safety of its passengers and crew is our number one priority and Flybe will, as always, do everything possible to minimise any disruption.”

Customers are asked to continue to check the airline’s live flight information for the latest updates on its website.

Affected customers can rebook to travel on an alternative flight or ask for a refund for any part(s) of their journey not taken.
