Hefty compensation bill for man who headbutted Domino’s Pizza window in Armagh

A man who headbutted the window of a Domino’s Pizza premises in Armagh whilst intoxicated has been ordered to pay compensation of £1,440.

James Henry, of Drumalt Road, Cullyhanna, appeared before Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry Courthouse on Tuesday (January 16).

Appearing in court, the 26-year-old entered a guilty plea to one count of criminal damage.

The court heard on March 19 last year, at approximately 3am, police received a report from Domino’s Pizza in Armagh.

Police were told that an intoxicated male had been removed from the premises after being aggressive with staff.

He then kicked and headbutted the window of the business, causing it to crack.

He was later identified through CCTV.

Police attended the defendant’s address and cautioned him, before he made full admissions at interview.

The window later cost £1,440 to replace.

On passing sentence, District Judge Anne Marshall commented: “You now accept that’s not a great way to respond I presume.”

District Judge Marshall decided to conditionally discharge the defendant for two years and ordered the full amount of £1,440 be paid in compensation to Domino’s.

He was given six months to pay.
