Strong winds are expected to batter much of Northern Ireland this coming weekend.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning of “very strong” winds from 6pm on Saturday, and right through until midnight on Sunday.
Winds could reach highs of 80mph this week in certain parts of the UK, which will cause significant issues for motorists across the weekend and into Monday morning, with fallen trees and debris.
Fortunately, it is not expected to get that bad across Co. Armagh.
However, heavy rain is also expected across the district through Saturday night and into Sunday morning making conditions even more treacherous.
Temperatures too will dip to lows of -2 degrees in the early hours of Monday morning.
What the Met Office says to expect this weekend:
– Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport expected
– Coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves
– There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close
– There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
– There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs
