The House of Commons Brexit Committee will be in Armagh later today (Thursday) to hear the views of locals
A number of MPs will hear from representatives of both the PSNI and HMRC, as well as will engaging with political, business and community representatives.
The European Union and UK are currently locked in intense negotiations over a break-up deal, with the Irish border issue a key component of those current discussions.
Theresa May has told Leo Varadkar, the Irish Taoiseach, she is “working hard to find a specific solution to the unique circumstances in Northern Ireland” and is committed to “moving together to achieve a positive result on this”.
The DUP have said it is continuing to hold talks with the government to find a solution to the Irish border question, saying “there is still plenty of work to be done.”
MLA Justin McNulty will be one of those to address the committee today.
He said: “Brexit is the greatest challenge this island will face since partition and the lack of any vision or indeed understanding by the UK Government is hugely damaging.
“This is an opportunity I will use to press home the real concerns of the people of this region.
“I hope that the Members of that committee will get to grips with the very real concerns of this community and indeed everyone living along the border from Dundalk to Donegal.
“There are no simple solutions. One thing I’d becoming increasingly clear and that is the fact that if we are to achieve the aspiration of having no hard border on this island.”
