A block of flats in Armagh – extensively damaged in an arson attack in July – is bein brought back into productive use “as soon as possible”.
The information was revealed during the presentation of a report by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
The cost of the repair work is not revealed.
The fire, at the Glenside development in the Killuney Drive area of Armagh, broke out at around 4.30am on Sunday, July 5.
Some six fire engines attended the scene of the blaze, as did the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. A number of tenants, as well as police officers, had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The properties were extensively damaged, including structural and roof damage.
Now the Housing Executive says the development, consisting of 12 units, was necessary.
The council was told: “These flats were in demand and the expenditure to repair them and leave them at a modern standard was deemed a viable spend.”
