Houstons building in Armagh city centre goes on market with owners set to retire

The owners of a long-standing and well-established Armagh city business are set to retire.

As a result, the Houston’s building on Scotch Street, has gone on the market to let.

Redian Real Estate have described the expansive four storey property, which sits in the heart of Armagh’s bustling main shopping street, as an “incredible opportunity for businesses seeking a spacious and versatile space”.

Earlier this year Menary’s announced they had acquired a number of the Houstons stores throughout Northern Ireland, however, the Armagh store of the same name was unaffected.

Nonetheless, 64A Scotch went on the market ‘to let’ over the weekend.

In the sales brochure, Redian said: “These premises are situated on the busiest retail street in Armagh City offering unbeaten city centre access and has become available due to retirement.

“This would be suitable for a family-run retail business or chain store. Located in the centre of Armagh City with one of the main supermarkets in Armagh, Card Factory, Caffè Nero, Subway, a local hardware store, local jewellers, local clothes stores and a local furniture store. The building is close to the two main public car parks which serve the city.”

It concludes: “This property is a rare find in Armagh, combining extensive floor space, prime location, and practical amenities.

“It’s perfectly suited for a thriving retail operation looking to establish or expand its presence in a dynamic commercial hub.”
