
A thanksgiving remembrance service was held last night (Wednesday) on the eve of VE Day in St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, Armagh.
The “shared moment of celebration” was delivered to mark the 80th Anniversary of the end of World War II was introduced by The Very Reverend Shane Forster, Dean of Armagh.
Readings were also conducted by the Reverend Thomas Moore, Minister of First Armagh and Tassagh Presbyterian Churches and the Very Reverend Barry Matthews, Administrator of St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral.
The Most Reverend John McDowell, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland then sermonised a “very poignant and dignified service” where His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Co Armagh; the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland; the Earl and Countess of Caledon; the Deputy Lord Mayor; Aldermen and Councillors of ABC Council were also present among the congregation.
