The community of St Jarlath’s Primary School, Blackwatertown, Co.Armagh marked the upcoming retirement of its Principal, Mrs Jacqueline Loughran, with a mass and a celebration back in the school on Thursday, December 12.

Jacqueline has been Principal of St Jarlath’s PS since September 2005.

She was previously Principal of Clea PS from 2000 – 2005.

Jacqueline has devoted the last twenty years of her life to leading St Jarlath’s Primary School, shaping its success and nurturing its very spirit.

For two decades, she has been the guiding light of St Jarlath’s, inspiring not only its pupils but staff, parents, and the wider community.

Jacqueline’s leadership has always been firm and compassionate, rooted in a deep faith that has guided her every decision and action.

Jacqueline had an unwavering belief that every child could achieve success and indeed was instrumental in developing St Jarlath’s school motto: ‘Finding Success in Every Child’.

Beyond the school gates, Jacqueline has been a true pillar of the local community. Her compassion and generosity extend far beyond the walls of the school. She has worked tirelessly to build connections, strengthen partnerships, and foster a spirit of collaboration. Her efforts have made St Jarlath’s school a place where children and families not only thrive academically, but also feel a sense of belonging and support.

Jacqueline’s leadership has always been guided by her strong Catholic faith. Her belief in the inherent worth of every individual, her dedication to service, and her constant prayer for wisdom in her own work and prayer for others have been evident to all who have worked with her.

As St Jarlath’s bid farewell to Jacqueline in her role as Principal, they are thankful that her legacy will live on in the many lives she has touched, the pupils she has nurtured, and the staff she has mentored and who will aim to carry forward the lessons she has taught, the values she has instilled, and the faith she has shared.

A packed church and school bore testimony to the esteem in which Jacqueline was held.
