An Armagh mum has called for increased security on the Mall in Armagh after a man exposed himself and urinated in front of her three children.
Donna Livingstone told Armagh I the incident happened this evening, as she and her daughters – aged nine, 13 and 16 – passed a group sitting drinking on a park bench.
She contacted us after we highlighted the issue of littering on the Mall which had increased as a result of the warmer weather.
And, shocked after this evening’s episode and wishing to warn others, Donna said: “It isn’t just the rubbish and dog fouling that needs addressed!”
She recalled what happened: “I was walking around the Mall with my three children. Three females and a male were sitting consuming alcohol on one of the benches when the male stands up and exposes himself and starts urinating in front of us.
“I did say that it was inappropriate but was met with a mouthful of verbal abusive language.”
Donna said she and the children stepped over the broken bottles littering the area in front of them and made for home.
“We did not venture another lap,” she said. “To say we were disgusted would be an understatement.
“It is just disheartening that what is to be thought of as a family or public place is becoming a gathering hot-spot for such anti-social behaviour.”
The irate mother will be bringing the matter to the attention of the local PSNI and has urged other people who have had similar experiences to highlight them and report them so that something can be done.
“I will be contacting police,” added Donna.
“It would be nice to see our community police out on their bicycles patrolling public areas like the Mall and Palace Stables.
“That regular pressence like this would deter such behaviour, especially during summer evenings, when families are out and about making the most of this good weather.”
