Friday funeral for popular Armagh man following sudden passing

A Friday funeral is to be held following the passing of popular Armagh man, Jonathan ‘Jonny’ Stevenson.

Jonny, who died suddenly on Monday September 9, was the son of Armagh City Football Club physio, Gerald Stevenson and his late wife, Ann.

He was in his early fifties.

Expressing their condolences on behalf of the club, a spokesperson said: “It is with great sadness that we learn of the sudden death of Jonny Stevenson, son of our esteemed physio Gerald.

“On behalf of everyone associated with the club, we convey our deepest sympathy to Gerald and will keep him and the entire Stevenson family in our thoughts and prayers during these difficult days.”

A death notice described Jonny as dear brother of Andrew, Nigel, Keith, Jill, Laura and Matthew, loving father of Tori and Chloe, grandfather of Farrah and Monroe.

The funeral is due to take place from his late home on Friday at 11-30am to Ballynahone Cemetery.

House strictly private, close friends welcome at the family home on Thursday September 12, between 6-8pm.

The request has been made for family flowers only with donations in lieu if desired for P.I.P.S c/o K G Cheevers and Son, Funeral Directors, 28 Dobbin Street, Armagh, BT61 7QQ.

Jonny will be lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family and the entire family circle.
