How do you fancy owning this 17th century stately mansion in the heart of county Armagh?
It doesn’t come cheap and is currently the most expensive house on the market in the Orchard County.
Dartan Hall, a Victorian period home situated six miles east of Armagh on the outskirts of the village of Killylea was built between 1850 & 1860 by the Cross family who were 17th century settlers from Lancashire, England.
And it’s open to offers but you’ll need to act quickly.
A Victorian style property of two storeys over a basement with some late Georgian architecture is described as something of a mongrel of the two periods.
Dartan Hall is accessed via a private avenue which leads to a sweeping approach on arrival at the house. Dartan offers fine views over the lawns, parkland and over the surrounding County Armagh countryside.
Purchased by the current owner, John Erskine, in the late 1980’s, the house was extensively renovated and modernised at that time.
The property was re-wired and plumbed whilst the roof was re-lathed and slated. The house retains many of its original features externally and internally.
Dartan Hall is being sold through Best Property Services (BPS) in Newry.
A spokesperson for BPS said: “We have had a lot of interest, as 100-acre plus farms of this quality are a scarce commodity.
“We are confident that we will have sufficient bidders to achieve market value close enough to our guide price. The owner is downsizing as he currently lives alone in the residence which is too large for him.”
The closing date for offers in October 12.
