Kind-hearted students of an Armagh school have thrown their weight behind the fundraising appeal for Katie Rose McKeown, who is battling a rare form of cancer.
The boys from St Patrick’s Grammar School have launched a fantastic calendar for 2019 with proceeds going to the fundraising pot.
Eight-year-old Katie Rose McKeown, a pupil of St Patrick’s Primary in Armagh, was diagnosed with Stage 4 High-Risk Neuroblastoma in March.
It is a highly aggressive form of childhood cancer which will see the little girl – the youngest of three sisters – undergo intensive treatment for 15 months or more.
A fundraising campaign with ‘Solving Kids Cancer’ was launched last month in the event she requires potential further treatment in America, when that available on the NHS reaches its limit.
Solving Kids Cancer is a charity that supports those undergoing treatment for neuroblastoma. Its aim is to help families affected by the cancer through supporting access to treatment, funding research, parent education and raising awareness.
The staff and students at St Patrick’s Grammar wanted to do their bit to help.
And, to that end, the Georgraphy Department held a photography competition with the winning images featured on a calendar.
A large number of entries was received and the winners – who are to be congratulated on their brilliant work – were Jack Duffy, Diarmuid McGurk, Jack McKee, Eoin McBrien, Lisa McMahon, Owen Kelly, John Lynch, Matthew Close, Martin Gillespie, Gemma Kay-Rice, Mel Hughes, Paddy Mohan, Wayne Hughes and Mark Richards.
The calendars went on sale this week at the school show.
They are available to order through St Patrick’s Grammar and are on sale at other businesses in Armagh, priced at £5 for A4 size and £10 for A3.
The calendars would make an ideal Christmas present and will help add to the fundraising total.
