A large police presence has been conducting searches in the Benburb area since early this morning (Thursday).
One resident told Armagh I that police “were all over the place” from around 8am, focusing on a property close to the Maydown Road area.
Searches continue to be conducted throughout the course of the afternoon.
A PSNI spokesperson told Armagh I : “Detectives from PSNIs Terrorism Investigation Unit, investigating violent dissident republican terrorist activity, are conducting a search in the Maydown Road area of Benburb today, Thursday 10 May.
“There are no further details at this time.”
The operation comes just a week after detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch uncovered a quantity of explosives during searches at two addresses in the Benburb area.
The searches, last Thursday, were also in relation to dissident republican activity.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Griffin confirmed then officers removed a number of items during searches, including a quantity of explosives, which were sent for further examination.
